Franchise collaboration on one current standard

You cannot manage franchisees as employees. Melp makes the current standard unambiguous: one operations manual, training that outlives the session, recorded field visits.

Melp workspaces connecting a franchisor's teams with individual franchise units

Why standards drift

Units do not ignore the standard. They work from a different copy of it

Brand-standard drift is almost never defiance. It is an information distribution failure, repeated across every unit and every new hire.

Manual PDFs and group email

  • The manual has versions. Units hold whichever PDF they downloaded, and revisions three and five are both in active use.
  • Training happens once. Delivered to the staff present that month; the four people hired since learned from a colleague's approximation.
  • Questions are asked one at a time. Forty units ask the same question separately, and forty answers are given from memory.

Franchise workspaces in Melp

  • One current manual. A revision supersedes the previous one in place, with history, so there is exactly one live standard.
  • Training that outlives the session. Recorded with transcripts and captions, available to whoever was hired last week, in their language.
  • Answers written once, findable by all. A network topic means a question answered for one unit is available to the other thirty-nine.
New unit opening

Where franchise communication is tested hardest

Opening a unit compresses every franchise coordination problem into a few months with a fixed date at the end.

A new franchise unit workspace in Melp holding the operations manual and training
  1. Awarding and onboarding

The new franchisee gets a workspace on day one containing the current operations manual, brand standards and the people at the brand they will actually deal with.

Melp capability: Cross-organization workspaces with structured topics

  2. Site and build-out

Design approvals and specification queries happen in a build topic with photos attached, so the brand sees progress and problems while they are still cheap to fix.

Melp capability: Threaded topics with photo evidence and shared documents

  3. Staff training

Unit staff work through recorded training with captions and translation, at their own pace, rather than depending on one live session whose timing suits nobody.

Melp capability: Meeting recording, transcripts and live captions

  4. Steady state

The workspace continues as the unit's permanent channel for standards updates, field visits and marketing approvals, so the opening's context is not discarded once trading begins.

Melp capability: Persistent workspaces with version-controlled documents

Three roles the same workspace has to serve

Franchise systems fail when a tool serves head office and creates work for units.

A field consultant and franchisee reviewing unit standards together in Melp

Franchisor operations lead

Know that every unit is on the current standard, without policing forty units individually.

One current manual, a searchable record of field visits, and evidence of what each unit received and when.

Franchisee owner

Run a profitable business without hunting for the current procedure or the right person to ask.

One place holding the manual, training, their visit history and a direct line to the field team.

Field consultant

Visit units, verify standards and follow up on actions across a large territory.

Each visit builds on the last, with photo evidence and agreed actions in the unit's workspace rather than in personal notes.

Franchise collaboration FAQ

Questions from franchisors and franchisees

On independence, cost and existing systems.

No. Franchisees and their staff join with existing Google, Microsoft, or Melp identity and do not consume your licenses. This matters in franchising more than most sectors: any per-unit cost passed to franchisees becomes a negotiation.
